Ramayana Ballet, The Timeless Beauty

Ramayana Ballet is a fascinating art performance, awesome and unrivaled. This show is able to bring together many variaties  of Javanese arts such as dance, drama and music in one stage and one momentum to present the Ramayana story, a legendary epic of Valmiki  written in Sanskrit.

Ramayana epic that be presented in the show are similar with the reliefs on the wall of  Prambanan Temple. As many told, the story of Ramayana that is carved on the beautiful Hinduism temple is similar with the story in oral tradition in India. The ballet show is summarized in four plays or round, abduction of Sinta, Anoman mission to Alengka, death Kumbakarna or Ravana, and Rama-Sita reunion.

The whole story  will be presented in a series of dance, performed by charming dancers accompanied by gamelan music. You are invited to  dissolve in the story completely and observe each movement of the dancers to know the story. There is no spoken dialogue of the dancers, the only speaker is sinden depicting the story through the songs in the Java language with a distinctive voices.

At the end of the story, Sita is retaken from Ravana by Hanuman, the agile and powerful white monkey. But when she's brought back, Rama does not believe Sita  again and consider she has been tarnished. To prove the sanctity, Sita is asked to burn her body. Sita's sanctity is slightest proved because her body does not burn but she became more beautiful. Rama finally take her back as his wife.
You will not be disappointed to watch and enjoy the perfect show. Lighting is prepared such that it is not only a mute rays, but was able to describe certain events in the story. Similarly, the makeup of each dancer, not only beautify but also able to describe the character, so the audiences can easily identify even though there is no dialogue.

 

You can find not only dance, but also an interesting scene like a fireball and agility acrobatic dancer.
